SideLens ("the App") is developed and operated by Narum Labs ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information. The short version: your photos stay on your device, and we collect minimal anonymous analytics to improve the app.

The App requests access to your device's camera and photo library so you can capture and select before-and-after photos. These photos are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to any external server.
We use TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data such as which features are used and how often. TelemetryDeck does not collect personally identifiable information, does not use cookies, and does not track users across apps. You can read TelemetryDeck's privacy policy for details.
Our legal basis for collecting anonymous analytics is legitimate interest — specifically, understanding how the App is used so we can improve it. Because TelemetryDeck collects no personally identifiable information, this processing poses minimal risk to your rights and freedoms.
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and purchase receipts from Apple — it does not receive your name, email, or Apple ID. You can read RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.
Our legal basis for processing subscription data is performance of a contract — we need to verify your purchase to provide Pro features.
All project data, comparison photos, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. No data is stored on external servers.
Because all app data is stored on your device, you control its retention. Deleting a project or comparison removes its data from your device immediately. Uninstalling the App removes all SideLens data from your device.
Anonymous analytics data processed by TelemetryDeck is retained according to their retention policy. Subscription records held by RevenueCat are retained according to their retention policy.
Your photos and project data never leave your device. However, anonymous analytics data (TelemetryDeck) and subscription data (RevenueCat) may be processed on servers located in the United States or other countries. Both services maintain appropriate safeguards for international data transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your data, including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These may include the right to:
Because SideLens stores all data on your device and does not maintain user accounts, you already have full control over your data. You can delete any project, comparison, or photo within the App at any time, or uninstall the App to remove all data. If you wish to exercise any of these rights regarding data held by our third-party services (TelemetryDeck, RevenueCat), please contact us at support@narumlabs.com and we will assist you.
If you are in the EU/EEA and believe your data protection rights have not been addressed, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
The App is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@narumlabs.com and we will take steps to remove it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
